I live in Australia and I've been told that the new xbox can play a DVD regardless of its code. Is that true? I don't want to waste money on DVD's that I can't play.Is it true the xbox 360 has a region code free DVD player?
Negative,The normal Dvd's movies is still encoded under the rules of the international laws, however the DVD's under the format HD is region free, means that is not region encoded on that format, but remember that NTSC is not compatible with Pal o Secam.....in Australia is region 4,like south america and latin america, but you need to have the same resolution system as pal or ntsc.....Pal is the european system and NTSC is the american resolution System...so...you still need the same system to watch the dvd's....or HD format...check your area...
Again...HD format is region free...but normal DVD's are using the same code system until now and so far...
best regards
p.s remember that to play HD dvd's in your xbox 360 is require the other dvd drive compatible with your 360.......my answer is to clear both aspects........in the 360 you can't play by itself hd movies..you still need the additional hd drive...you can play normal games and normal DVD's that are encoded as ussual......so it's not region free.......Is it true the xbox 360 has a region code free DVD player?
I've never tried it out myself, but from what I've read, no it doesn't have a region code free DVD player.
