Is it true that Obama said something about ';clinging to their guns and religion'; during the primary?

Or, is this a right wing lie?Is it true that Obama said something about ';clinging to their guns and religion'; during the primary?
Well lets take it in context, it was at a San Francisco fundraiser (imagine that) and he obviously didn't think it would be heard by those to whom he was so condescendingly disparaging. Its shameful really, to be mocked for utilizing the freedoms that are guaranteed by this great country, but now misunderstood as some type of angry frustrated minority fringe outcast mentality by the liberal elite to be dismissed as not worthy of a vote.Is it true that Obama said something about ';clinging to their guns and religion'; during the primary?
Yep, it's true. He thinks it's wrong for the America people to have guns and religion. This is his way of appeasing the Liberals who think we shouldn't have weapons within our homes. I moved here to California (to be with my Marine husband) and discovered that the only way you can register to own a gun is if you've been attacked two consecutive times...And you can be charged with murder if you kill someone that's breaking into your home. Also, if you even injure them while they're in your home, they can actually sue you...Even though they broke in.

Liberals think all of America should be like California. It's a horrible thought.
Its true, in more ways than one, there is a certain element for whom education and intelligence isn't wanted or needed, they do cling to their guns and religion, they shy away from technology and science.

The fact that guns and religion are interwoven in their thinking is key.

He wasn't putting down gun owners or people who believe in the bible, just the people who have nothing else they believe in.
He said: “You go into these small towns in Pennsylvania and, like a lot of small towns in the Midwest, the jobs have been gone now for 25 years and nothing’s replaced them. And it’s not surprising, then, they get bitter, they cling to guns or religion or antipathy to people who aren’t like them or anti-immigrant sentiment or anti-trade sentiment as a way to explain their frustrations.”

Basically he called them Bible thumping, gun toting, racist hicks.
Totally true, and said in a forum where he was DUMB ENOUGH to think there weren't any cameras running.

It was Mr. Elitist's way of talking down about your ';common folk'; who he claims to represent when he's in your town..... and then who he basically calls rednecks when he's with his Hollywood supporters.

If you took ANY time at all to research Obama, there's no way you could ever support him......
I guess you are just now joining us.

As you will learn...this is only one of several Obama gaffs. However, it's not widely publicized. Might have something to do with a BIG push by the news media to get Obama elected.

Listen to 'The Battle of the Headlines' on the Glenn Beck Radio Show. Absolutely Hillarious!
Full Quote..

';cling to guns or religion or antipathy to people who aren’t like them”

Some how people ignore the last part of his quote. He was talking about small town uber-religious, gun toting racists...which I assume most of you are not. Right?

Now if you are a small town uber-religious, gun toting racist...by all means be offended by this.

I support Obama (at least compared to the lunatics on the other side), but he did indeed say this. It was actually used against him by Hillary to try and point out how ';out of touch'; he supposedly was with lower-class America.

Thing is, many people (myself included) actually agreed with it.
He was talking about the people who live in Pennsylvania...in a speech for ultra-liberals in California...during the democratic primary
Yes it is true. He said it at a private fundraiser in San Fransisco but someone taped it and released it. It was right before the Pennsylvania primary..
why would they lie. everything he said is taped by journalists.
Yes, he said it in San Francisco during a fundraiser. He was talking about YOU.
And John McShame was against MLK birthday becoming a holiday.
Not a lie, it came directly from Obama's mouth.
It's true, but I don't like clinging on to religion or guns anyway.
Agree with the above. I've seen the tape many times.
yes he did. the more he speaks the more foot he shoves in his mouth.
yep he said it about ';small town America';.
Yes, he did.
yes he did uit was a reemark about Clinton seeking the votes of bible thumbing gun owners
Jesus wants us to own assault rifles. It's in the Bible!
