If babies start walking earlier than average is it true they can get bowed legs?

and what age do they mean when they say they can get bowed legs if learning early - until when? when is it ok for them to learn to walk safely ?If babies start walking earlier than average is it true they can get bowed legs?
I've never heard that. Both my girls were early walkers, one at 10.5 months and one at just over 8.5 months and they are both fine. If babies start walking earlier than average is it true they can get bowed legs?
LOL. No they don't get bowed legs. Unless its in their genes or they have a disease that causes it. Not even putting them in a jumper or exersaucer thing from 4 months on will cause that. Its a myth that those type of things cause bowleggedness. They will walk when they are ready, but if they are putting weight on their legs or cruising early, it will absolutely not hurt them.
Bowed legs are caused by a vitamin D deficiency called Rickets. When your baby is ready to learn to walk there is very little you can do to stop it at any age. Vitamin supplements or sun exposure each day should ensure your baby has plenty of vitamin d.

My son started walking when he was 8 months old. He did have a little bowleg and we had to see a specialist for it. They told us that it was probably caused by walking early because his leg muscles werent strong enough yet. Luckily, his legs are straightening out on their own and he doesn't have to wear a leg brace or anything. The thing is, when a child is ready to walk there isnt anything parents can do about it but be proud they learned so early and hope for the best!!
My first child, was not walking, but running at 10 months old. She is almost 7 years old and is not bow-legged at all but she is pigeon toed, its getting better, though, not as noticable as when she was say,4 years old. She had always done things ahead of her time, still does, so look forward to that :)
It's not true at all. My son started walking very early at 8 months. He's now two and a half and I assure, his knees and legs are fine. By the way, are you planing on making your baby NOT walk even if he can? Just let nature take it's course. My daughter didn't' walk until a year. Everyone is different. :)
My daughter was born bow legged and her pediatrician said she may walk later than most babies. She's 7 months and can already stand. I think it just depends on the baby. But I don't think early walking will cause bowlegs. I think a baby has to be born that way.
No no and NO! You can't tie your kids down or force them to learn to walk before they are ready. BELIEVE me. My daughter started to walk at 9 months (hated to crawl haha) and absolutely does NOT have bowed legs :) When they are going to walk they will walk.
Okay, I'm sorry but this is a stupid question. My daughter walked at six months but she isn't bow legged. It doesn't make sense that just because a baby walks earlier than most other babies that they would become bow legged. Sorry for bein a b*tch.
not true! i am now 11 and i walked at 8 months. the average is 1 yr. and guess what. I dont have bow legs and my legs are stronger than most of the DUDES in my class!
My child started at 9 months and didn't get bowed legs.

A child learns at their own pace. Everyone in my family started walking before a year old and never had a case where someone got bowed legs from it.

So I would say false.

I think thats false. I learned to walk earlier than most and did not get bowed legs.

Bowed legs is generally caused from a vitamin D deficiency.
It's an old wives tale. Babies do things on their own time and at different ages and there isn't a right or wrong age to any of the milestones they hit.
I always heard babies weren't supposed to walk until a year old, but now I'm not sure. I'm interested in hearing your answers as well.
hi hunni, i was walking at 9 months and my legs r fine lol. its only now i dont want 2 walk lol xxxxxxx id much rather be pushed around in a nice warm pram hehe xxxx
I think it depends on how early I think... Cuz my daughter started walking about a week before her first birthday and she came out just fine. But just to be sure you should ask your child's doctor.
Old wives tale. My daughter was walking at 9 months and her legs are perfectly straight. And she is now 2 and has excellent balance.
That could not be true. I know four people who started walking at 8 months old and they aren't bow legged.
Actually babies are born with bowed legs. They grow out of them and it has nothing to do with walking.
that's just an old wives tale, not true
my bf started to walk early and he isnt bow legged
