Is it true that, during a tonsilectomy, they dislocate your jaw?

I read this recently and had a tonsillectomy yesterday. It would explain a lot as I am in a lot of pain (even though I have Super Pain Killers). Any help would be awesome.Is it true that, during a tonsilectomy, they dislocate your jaw?
As part of the operation an instrument is used to keep the mouth open (gag). There is a small risk for this to cause damage to the lips/ tooth or even cause dislocation of TMJ (tempromandibular joint), the joints responsible for opening and closing your mouth.





This said, there is a lot of pain after tonsilectomy and doesn't necessarly mean there was a dislocation. See Below:

路Pain can be severe and last about 2 weeks. Pain can get worse before it gets better (between day 4-7) and you may find you have severe earache.

No they do not dilocate your jaw. Not sure where you read this but it is not true.
You have the wrong info. The only thing that should hurt now is your throat ! Enjoy Soups, Ice Cream and Chocalate Bars....I did when I had mine removed. Hang in there, I know it hurts. ;)
