I have this diet book that says if you eat 20 grams of fiber a day, you burn something like 200 calories processing all of it, so you can eat 200 extra calories. It sounds too good to be true. Is it?
I really need to know because if it is true, I can eat a granola bar. And I really want a granola bar.Is it true that if you eat a ton of fiber you can eat like 200+ extra calories a day?
True or not just eat the granola bar. If you do you eat it, make sure you exercise more.Is it true that if you eat a ton of fiber you can eat like 200+ extra calories a day?
20 gr of fiber a day sounds a lot, don't overdo it. Also vary the fiber, there's dry fiber and sticky fiber. All Bran is dry, and not as effective in slowing the sugar metabolism. Negative calory foods are nonsense, but the veggy diet is one of the best if you want to lose weight.
Also: the SLOWER you lose weight the more longlasting it is, it's like tricking the body into thinking you're not losing weight, so it doesn't enlarge the fat cells. A glass of water when you're about to give in to a chocolate bar really helps. Alcohol gives a lot of calories, more than you think. The best diet is a change of life: walking to work instead of taking the car, struggling with the tubes and buses instead of driving; walking upstairs instead of taking the lift and so on.
Basically, unless you're obese, the best is to aim for NO weight GAIN, and stick to your weight as it is; find yourself clothes that look great on you, love yourself.
Sadly the notion of negative calorie food (i.e. that it takes more calories to digest celery or something fiberiffic than is provided by the fibrous food) is an urban myth.
The granola bar is good for you, just make up for its calories elsewhere.
Thumbs up to Italian Princess for mentioning Kroger. I thought Audi was a car, however.
They have some that are about 90 calories a piece. Not sure of the brand but you can find them at Audis and a Kroger near you.
I know the Fiber 1 bars are 140 cals a piece and can be very addicting
just don,t get constipated. drink lots of water. eat fruits and veggies.
