Is it true that taking asthma medicine increases severe asthma risk?

I was watching a TV ad that certain brands of asthma medicine, including Advair, could increase the risk of severe (and most likely fatal) asthma risk. Is that true?Is it true that taking asthma medicine increases severe asthma risk?
This falls under the headline of rare side effects. In other words people can use it for years without a problem but once in a great while under unusual circumstances it could interact with other bronchodilators.

Salmeterol is a long acting bronchodilator and if it was used without heeding the manufacturer's suggested use it could have bad side effects. The other medicine in Advair is prednisone which would have the side effect of candidiasis if you don't rinse your mouth after use.

In general they are covering their butts when they mention all those side effects of any medicine that is being advertised. Your doctor has to order it so he/she will be aware of the possible adverse effects.

God bless.
