I was told that yesterday, and it sounds ridiculous, but so are a lot of things that are true... He told me that boy panda bears see who can pee the highest up on a tree, and then the girl comes along and whoever got the highest gets to mate with her. Is that true at all?Is it true that panda bears choose their mate by who can pee the highest?
Giant Pandas are solitary animals. They only come together for mating. Females only are ';in heat'; or have the urge to mate twice a year. If they don't find a male the first time, which lasts about 10 days, they have to wait until the second time. When spring comes, females start to move around to scent-mark the areas they trot. The males pick up the females' scents and follow them. They mate. After they finish, the males and females go their separate ways.Is it true that panda bears choose their mate by who can pee the highest?
Pandas are solitary animals. This usually means there are few males in the vicinity of a female panda in heat. As few as two and as many as five will typically compete for the right to breed. The largest male usually emerges the victor after some roaring and aggressive pushing. The female panda will attract her mate with scent-marking (rubbing against trees and urinating) and bleating calls.
In captivity they are often too over weight and lazy to show much interest.
nooo. panda bears are too cute for that. they have a cute contest and the cutest boy panda is chosen by the girl. =D
